I. Purpose

Part of the Tennessee Business Travel Association‘s (TBTA) mission statement is to provide avenues for advancement in the travel industry for its members. All scholarship funds will be used to support the professional advancement/development of TBTA members.

II. The Program

A. Types of Scholarship
• TBTA Annual Membership – This scholarship provides the recipient funds renew their current membership. This scholarship will also cover monthly meeting fees.

• NBTA Annual Membership – Scholarship will provide funds up to $395.

• NBTA Annual Conference Registration Fee –Must be an NBTA member to apply for this scholarship.
• Continuing Education Scholarships –
• Fundamentals of Business Travel Management/Corporate Travel Expert (CTE) (value of $400.00 excludes transportation if you choose to complete this course in person)

• Certified Corporate Travel Executive (CCTE) - $500 Scholarship towards this certification.

• Global Leadership Professional Program (GLP) - $500 Scholarship towards either the two-day or five-day course.

B. Timeframe
• Scholarship applications must be submitted by October 15, 2010.
• Scholarship winners will be announced at the November meeting (November 9, 2010).
• Winners will be notified prior to announcement on November 10, 2010.
 
III. Eligibility Requirements

A. Applicant must be a TBTA member in good standing.

B. Applicant must comply with all schedules and requirements pertaining to the scholarship application process.

C. Members of the TBTA Board are eligible to apply and receive scholarships, but if they apply, may not participate in any way in the decision making process.

D. Applicants must be a TBTA member and must retain TBTA membership throughout the grant period.

E. Applicant’s company must certify that it endorses the applicant and will allow the applicant necessary time and additional funding, if necessary, to attend the courses or programs.

F. Applicant must comply with all schedules and requirements pertaining to the scholarship application process.

IV. Application Process

A. Application Procedure
1. Complete the online application by October 15, 2010.

2. Include a brief summary of how this scholarship will benefit you.
3. Only electronic application submissions will be accepted. Supporting documents can be faxed or scanned.
4. Submit a signed company endorsement form.
 
B. Review and Selection
1. Applications are treated as privileged communication and are restricted to the review of the TBTA Board of Directors.
2. The decision to grant or not grant a scholarship rests within the sole discretion of the TBTA Board and shall be final and binding and not subject to challenge.
 

V. Payment of Scholarship

A. All fees will be paid directly to the qualified program and/or institution.
